UPDATE: The Atascadero Police Department says police activity along the 4900 block of Carrizo Road Wednesday morning was related to a stolen property and narcotics search warrant being served at two adjoining properties.

“The Atascadero Police Department has responded to these particular residences many times in the past few months regarding assaults, theft and narcotics-related activity,” police said in a press release.

The search warrant came after police say they received information that narcotics sales may have been taking place at the homes.

The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Detail, or SWAT, was called out after police also learned stolen firearms may have been at the locations and the situation was deemed “high risk.”

No other information is being released by authorities at this time.

ORIGINAL STORY: People in Atascadero woke up to some commotion in the Carrizo Rd. neighborhood as law enforcement officers issued a search warrant.

Viewers tell KSBY a helicopter has been circling the area and the SWAT team is at the scene.

So far, officials are being tight-lipped about the situation and say a press release will be sent out sometime later Wednesday.

The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office could only say that a search warrant was being served.

Atascadero police dispatchers told KSBY officers were on scene but could not elaborate further.

This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
