Cal Poly hosts second annual Martin Luther King Jr. Dinner

Love was a major topic at Cal Poly’s second annual Martin Luther King Jr. dinner Wednesday night.

Renowned educator, author, and activist, Cornel West, spoke at the event.

He touched on several topics, including the political climate and current trends in society.

During his speech, he said people need to overcome their differences and focus on the good in the world.

“To be a human is to spread loving kindness, steadfast love to the vulnerable, the motherless, the fatherless, and the widow, the weak, the vulnerable, and the oppressed,” said West.

West’s speech is part of a broader visit to campus, which also included fireside chats.
