An inmate at the Santa Barbara County jail has died.
The Sheriff’s office reported the death Friday. Deputies said Jose A. Curiel, 52 of Santa Maria, was hospitalized because of a medical condition just before 8 p.m, January 5.
He died Thursday night due to medical complications.
Curiel was booked into the Santa Barbara Jail in February of 2018 for domestic violence, criminal threats to terrorize, stalking offenses and outstanding warrants.
Deputies said his next of kin was with him when he died.
