Caltrans announced late Friday crews are closing Highway 1 at Big Sur because of rocks and mud on the roads.
Crews said they are anticipating heavy rain and wind. They are closing the highway from Ragged Point to Deetjins Inn overnight.
Crews will begin cleanup Saturday morning.
Caltrans said people should monitor its Twitter to keep track of possible future closures.
Friday afternoon, crews issued a 48-hour closure advisory because of the storms.
