Hundreds of kids in San Luis Obispo County got bikes from the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office Wednesday as part of their Christmas bike giveaway.
This is the 29th year of the event.
About 230 new and refurbished bikes and helmets were given to kids in need.
“It’s always a special time for us here at the sheriff’s office and we have a lot of happy kids at the end of the day,” said Tony Cipolla, San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office public information officer.
Cipolla said something that makes this event so special is that inmates housed at the Honor Farm make repairs on the bikes throughout the year as the bikes come in.
