Wireless headphones, smart home devices and retro game consoles are some of the top tech gifts this holiday season.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if almost every person in the country gets a tech-related gift this year,” says CNET’s Lindsey Turrentine.
Sales of wireless headphones are skyrocketing after Google, Apple and Samsung released new phones without a headphone jack. Bose and Sony’s noise-cancelling headphones are popular, but pricey, with most high-end models costing anywhere from $150 to $300.
With more manufacturers entering the market, you don’t have to pay an arm and a leg.
“What’s different this year is that you can get nice wireless headphones as low as $50,” Turrentine says.
On the game front, Nintendo is having a happy holiday thanks to record sales of its Switch console. Nostalgic gamers are also fueling sales of the Nintendo SNES Classic and the Playstation classic, which are toy-like versions of the old-school systems.
The top tech gift of 2018 goes to smart home devices. Google released its Home Hub just in time for the holidays, and Amazon updated its entire Alexa product line.
