Cayucos is getting into the holiday spirit.

The Cayucos Pier was lit up for the first time Friday night thanks to community volunteers.

A woman named Carly Kaiser designed, organized, and funded the decorating with the help of the Rotary Club and city officials. She says it cost about $900 to pay for the decorations, in addition to several hours of volunteer work.

The pier is now lined with garland and lights.

Kaiser says decorating the pier has always been her dream, and she hopes it brings more people to Cayucos to celebrate the holidays.

“It just beautifies our community even more, and it displays our love for this town, and we just want to keep making it more and more beautiful,” said Kaiser.

There will be several events in Cayucos on Saturday for the holidays.

The 10th Annual Christmas in Cayucos is happening along Ocean Avenue. Merchants will host an open house, there will be free horse-drawn carriage rides, children’s activities, a tree lighting, and a visit from Santa.

Cayucos Land Conservancy will also offer a nature walk as part of the annual Christmas celebration.
