Motorcyclist identified in deadly crash near Santa Barbara City College

Investigators released the name of a man who was killed in a motorcycle accident near Santa Barbara City College this week.

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office says the man who died was Lemar Young, 24, of Goleta.

The crash happened around 4 p.m. Monday.

Investigators say Young was riding a motorcycle on Loma Alta at Cliff Drive. Police say he had a green light and went through the intersection at a high rate of speed. Shortly after, they say he came upon a BMW that was leaving the college campus.

Investigators say Young went into a different lane, over-corrected, fishtailed, and lost control of the motorcycle. He was thrown from his bike and died at the scene.

The motorcycle and BMW never hit each other, according to police.
