The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office says a man on its Most Wanted list has been arrested.
Deputies received calls around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday about a man passed out in a car with an engine running on Clark Avenue in Orcutt.
Someone reported to deputies that a man inside the car appeared to be under the influence of some sort of substance and was slumped over the center console.
Deputies say when they arrived, the man had left the area and was seen driving west on Clark Avenue.
Deputies eventually located the suspect and pulled him over. They say the driver was identified as Gary McCluer, 43, of Lompoc. Investigators say a records check revealed McCluer had multiple warrants for his arrest.
Deputies say they found drug paraphernalia, heroin, and multiple prescription medications inside his car. They say the car’s license plates were for a different vehicle, and that the registration tags had been stolen from a third vehicle.
McCluer was listed on the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Most Wanted list. Deputies say he had been wanted since September for identity theft, forgery, obstructing or resisting an executive officer, and probation violation charges.
He was booked on outstanding warrants and several new charges. He is being held at the Santa Barbara County jail on $25,000 bail.
