Travel deals rule the day

Forget Cyber Monday, it’s “Travel Deal Tuesday,” a good time to find cheap airfare for your next vacation or holiday trip.

Travel experts say this season is one of the busiest they’ve seen, in part because more shoppers are in the market for something other than tangible gifts.

“One in three consumers plan on buying experiences,” says travel expert Vera Gibbons.

Travel Deal Tuesday also comes at a time when half of American workers need to burn vacation days by the end of the year.

Next week is one of the cheapest times all year to fly abroad.

If you’re daydreaming about a future vacation, there are twice as many deals today than average, according to travel app Hopper.

Online travel websites can offer deeper discounts if you book your flight and hotel at the same time, and many airlines are also offering flash sales this week.

“Those are trickier because often it’s not necessarily to the destinations you want to go to,” Gibbons warns.

Still, if you’re flexible with your destination and travel times you can get fares up to 90 percent off.
