The family of a Santa Maria woman who was hit and killed in a bus crash earlier this year has filed a wrongful death lawsuit in the case.

Veronica Zamora Perez was riding her bicycle on April 2 when she was involved in a crash with a Santa Maria Area Transit bus.

She died several days later.

Her family filed claims against the city in June, but the city denied those claims.

Now, the family has filed a wrongful death lawsuit and names three defendants, including the City of Santa Maria and First Transit, Inc.

Criminal charges were not filed against the driver.
