Sheriff’s deputies asking for more information about possible car break-ins in Orcutt

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office is asking for more information about suspected thefts from cars in Orcutt.

The Sherrif’s Office said that suspects were seen walking around and trying to break into cars around 12:41 a.m. Tuesday at Hilltop Road and Cedarhurst Drive. Another report came in at 12:49 a.m. at East Patterson Road and Oak Knoll Road.

The suspects were spotted getting away in an older gray sedan. Sheriff’s deputies said they spotted that car traveling northbound on Bradley Road at Lakeview before speeding off. A Santa Maria Police officer later caught up with the car when two minors were seen running away from the car before being detained. A third adult suspect was not found.

The owner of the car was contacted and arrived on the scene, who identified one of the detained suspects. The car’s owner identified several items inside that did not belong to her, including two cell phones, a GPS, and a bottle of liquor.
