The Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Office issued a shelter in place order Sunday morning as CHP looked for two people who fled from their car after getting involved in a crash near Santa Maria Way.

The incident happened early Sunday morning and lasted a couple of hours according to Santa Maria Police.

Acting Sgt. David Culver said the car crash happened on Highway 101 on an off-ramp near Santa Maria Way.

When CHP arrived to the crash the two people inside the car fled. Culver said the shelter in place order was sent to people near Santa Maria Way so that CHP could look for the two suspects.

He said the order was over when CHP did not find the two suspects.

CHP is now investigating the incident.
