Students at the Family Partnership Charter School in Morro Bay are doing what they can to help those in need.
On Friday, the Montessori school hosted its annual Parade of Giving. Students in kindergarten through fifth grade donated food before walking it to the Morro Bay Fire Station. The donations went to this year’s Season of Hope drive.
Site coordinator Semu Torres said that the parade is designed to teach kids the value of giving and being thankful for what they have.
“I really like giving money to people because I feel like if they need something, it’s not fair because we have all this stuff, and they don’t have one thing that we have,” said Gwen Markham, a second-grade student.
Today’s Parade of Giving also included a stone soup lunch and a friendship salad.
