The Cabrillo High School baseball team will receive an opportunity to experience Major League Baseball this spring.

Cabrillo head coach Jonathan Osborne has been working with Cabrillo alum and current Kansas City Royals pitcher, Danny Duffy to give the kids a big league experience by playing a game at Kauffman Stadium.

The Conquistadores will play Joplin High School at Kauffman Stadium on April 18. In addition, the Cabrillo team has games scheduled against Blue Springs High School at Satchel Paige Stadium and against the Raymore-Peculiar High School team.

Cabrillo will also receive an opportunity to tour the Negro Leagues Museum during the trip.

“The head groundskeeper at the K, at Kauffman Stadium, has been really gracious with giving us, you know, with wiping out the whole schedule and giving us a day at Kauffman for these kids to play,” Duffy said. “People heard of that and gave us Satchel Paige Stadium. Another team invited Cabrillo to play at their high school and they’re getting a tour of the Negro Leagues museum out there, so it’s kind of educational fun all in one. It’s going to be really cool and it’s going to be really special.”

The entire experience for the Cabrillo baseball team is being sponsored by Duffy.
