There is a popular anecdote from television children host Mr. Rogers said his mother told him during terrible, tragic news; “Look for the helpers.” During California’s devastating wildfires, the helpers are on the front lines, battling the blaze, doing their best to help residents and animals in the fire’s path.

The Sacramento Fire Department fighting the Camp Fire came “across these two donkeys walking down the center of the street looking very sad, thirsty and hungry,” the Facebook post stated.

SFD Fire Chief Gary Loesch and firefighter Chris Harvey fed them apples while they waited for animal control to arrive and rescue the animals.
