Road reopens after truck snags powerlines in Santa Maria

Traffic being was being diverted Tuesday morning due to downed powerlines in Santa Maria.

The California Highway Patrol reports powerlines were down near Betteravia Road and Philbric Road shortly after 7:30 a.m.

According to CHP, safety netting on a semi-truck caught onto power and phone lines. The truck was reportedly traveling westbound on Betteravia.

Traffic was being diverted in the area as PG&E and the Santa Maria Fire Department assessed the incident.

The road was back open around 8:30 a.m.
