KSBY’s Friday Night Highlights Week 8 ‘Game of the Week’ features a Mountain League matchup between Nipomo and Pioneer Valley to determine the Ocean League title.

Both teams head into the game with a 3-0 league record but carry a different storyline for its nonleague schedule. The Titans are 6-2 overall and are coming off big wins. They’ve scored 130 points in its last three games combined while its defense only allowed 20 points.

Nipomo says its prepared for what’s expected to be a high-intensity game against Pioneer Valley.

“PV had a tough schedule in the early preseason, they played some really good teams,” said Tony Dodge, Nipomo head coach. “They lost a few of those games but I think now they’ve won four games in a row, we won three games in a row, we both know what it’s like to win, and we’re both expected to win Friday night, so it’s going to be exciting.”

“We’re going to come out with a lot of energy and caution and ready to take the game. Last year we couldn’t really finish it out at the end of the season like we wanted to and I think that makes us a lot hungrier,” said Brayden Groshart, Nipomo junior quarterback.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Pioneer Valley.
