The San Luis Obispo Museum of Art launched a new campaign aimed at inspiring students to get involved in the visual arts.

“Awaken” is a year-long program broken up into three exhibitions: fall, winter, and spring.

Through the program, museum officials say they’re able to reach every school in the county.

On Wednesday night, the museum launched the project within the education offices.

The museum’s Executive Director, Karen Kile, says with this program, kids can showcase their creative energy. “Community, nature, what those mean to them, and have their art shown in a real museum,” said Kile.

The exhibition is open to several types of art, including paintings, drawings, photos, and ceramics. The deadline to enter is October 28.
