Sheriff’s deputies are looking for a man who attempted to rape a woman in Isla Vista.

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office said a man approached a 22-year-old Santa Barbara City College student at 12:15 a.m. Wednesday at Camino Pescadero and Picasso Road. The man jumped out of the bushes, punched her, grabbed her hair, pulled her into the bushes, and tried to take her shirt off.

The woman was able to scream and fight back, deputies said. She ran into a nearby house and called 911.

Deputies and UC Santa Barbara Police officers looked for the man, but did not find him. He is described as being in his 20s, approximately 5′ 9″ tall and thin with dark skin and facial hair.
