The community came together Friday for a young boy battling a rare disease called Tay-Sachs.
Jaxson Karp celebrated his fifth birthday with a fundraiser dinner at the Paso Robles Moose Lodge. Tay-Sachs is a genetic neurological disorder that is deadly. There’s currently no cure for the disease, but his family says there is hope for a gene therapy treatment in the near future that could stop the disease from progressing. They’re trying to raise funds to help find a cure.
“I feel so great, so happy for the city of Paso, San Luis Obispo County, and the Moose Lodge. The people in the area have been so helpful. I am so grateful for them coming out and helping fight this disease,” said Ian Karp, Jaxson’s dad.
Guests at the event enjoyed sandwiches, sides, and some birthday cake. There was also a raffle.
Monetary Donations can be made for Jaxson Karp at CoastHills Credit Union, Account #1907330-82. Make Checks Payable to Shelley Karp, memo Jaxson Karp OR NTSAD for funds to be directed there.
