(UPDATE 2:05 p.m.)- The California Highway Patrol Buellton released the names of the drivers involved in the deadly head-on collision and arrested one of the drivers for driving under the influence.
CHP said the driver of the 2017 Honda Civic was Bryan P. Charette. He was driving north on Highway 1.
A press release sent out by CHP Buellton said a witness confirmed to authorities that Charette was driving at a high rate, making unsafe movements and passing over double yellow lines. When Charette crossed over to the southbound lanes of the highway he hit the 1997 Nissan Pickup driven by Alfredo Martinez.
Martinez suffered serious injuries and died as a result of the crash.
CHP said alcohol was involved in the accident and arrested him.

UPDATE (9:30 p.m.) – Santa Barbara County Fire says an accident on Highway 1 near Lompoc was fatal.
The fire department tweeted a photo of the accident Friday night and said a male driver was killed and another male driver was hospitalized with major injuries.
Firefighters say the accident happened on Highway 1, about 5 miles north of Highway 101. Firefighters arrived at the scene and found a two-vehicle head-on collision. The vehicles involved were a pickup truck and a smaller Honda sedan. The male driver of the pickup truck was killed. The male driver of the Honda was flown to an area hospital with major injuries.
The Buellton area of CHP is handling the investigation.
A Sig-Alert was issued because Highway 1 will be closed for an unknown amount of time during the investigation.

The California Highway Patrol is responding to a crash near Lompoc.
The CHP says it first received calls about the crash around 7:20 p.m. Friday. It happened on Highway 1 north of the Gaviota tunnel and south of Lompoc.
CHP officers did not release any information on the extent of injuries.
