The Carpinteria-Summerland Fire Protection District has a new fire chief.
Greg Fish was chosen to lead the department after a nationwide search involving more than 30 candidates.
"The district is honored and proud to have Chief Fish join the Carpinteria-Summerland team," Board President Pete Thompson said in a press release. "Chief Fish brings an extensive and comprehensive set of skills to the district that will further enhance our service to the citizens of Carpinteria and Summerland… His enthusiasm is contagious, we are very fortunate to have him here."
Fish previously served as fire chief for the City of Glendale.
"I am excited and humbled to be part of the Carpinteria-Summerland team. I look forward to learning how the department can better serve the community and leading that effort," the new chief said in a press release.
Fish takes over for Ray Navarro, whose contract is expiring after serving as fire chief for the Carpinteria-Summerland Fire Protection District for the past two years.
Fish’s first day on the job will be Oct. 1.
