Santa Barbara police, firefighters, Harbor Patrol, and paramedics responded to the Stearns Wharf area Thursday afternoon for a report of a suicidal man.
Police say the man ended up in the water and swam around for about an hour before eventually agreeing to come out.
Police say he was placed on a mental health hold and taken to the hospital to receive treatment.
