A Morro Bay woman is celebrating a major milestone.
Friends and family gathered to celebrate Idabelle Shields on Thursday. She was born on August 24, 1911, and she turns 107 on Friday. A birthday party was held at the Casa de Flores home in Morro Bay.
Shields spoke with KSBY as she enjoyed her last few hours as a 106-year-old. "Tomorrow I will no longer be young. I’ll be 107," said Shields.
Shields was born before World War I. During her lifetime, she has seen 19 different presidents.
KSBY interviewed her last year when she turned 106. She said the key to a long life was to "have fun as you go along. When you’re old, you have dreams, and you dream only the funny things that you did."
