A groundbreaking ceremony was held Wednesday morning for the Grover Beach train station expansion project.
The train station is located at the corner of West Grand Ave. and Highway 1.
The project will add a sheltered bus passenger loading and unloading area, as well as 40 new parking spots and improved landscaping and accessibility features.
The project, which is expected to cost about $3.1 million, is being funded through federal, state and regional grants.
Construction is scheduled to begin this month. It’s expected to take about a year to complete the work.
