6 things to do this weekend on the Central Coast

Looking for something fun to do this weekend? Here are some of the events happening around the Central Coast:

SATURDAY, AUGUST 17

Mid-State Cruizers Car Show/Dancing in the Streets
10 a.m.-3 p.m. – Atascadero Lake Park, 9305 Pismo Ave., Atascadero
5-10 p.m. – El Camino Real, Downtown Atascadero
Check out dozens of beautifully restored antique cars. After the show, follow the cars downtown for the 3rd Annual Dancing in the Streets. Enjoy live music by the Martin Paris Band, The Monroe, Bear Market Riot, Ricky Montijo, and Burning James & the Funky Flames. The Atascadero High School Cheer Team and several local dance groups will perform. A variety of food trucks will also be on hand, and beer, cider and wine will be available for purchase.

Lompoc Skateboard Competition
10 a.m. – check-in
11 a.m. – competition begins
Lompoc Skate Park, 305 W. College Ave., Lompoc
All skaters ages 7 and older are invited to participate in this annual competition hosted by the Lompoc Recreation Division and Surf Connection. Lompoc Foursquare Church will provide refreshments.
Cost to participate: $5 per event.

Battle of the Big Bands: Glenn Miller vs. Harry James
2 p.m. (matinee)
7 p.m.
Clark Center for the Performing Arts, 487 Fair Oaks Ave., Arroyo Grande
Thirty musicians and five vocalists in two big bands will perform the 1940s music of Glenn Miller and Harry James and compete for the audience "vote" at the end of the show.
Tickets: $29-$49

Movies in the Park
8:30 p.m.
Rotary Centennial Park, 2625 South College Drive, Santa Maria
Bring lawn chairs, throw blankets, and snacks and enjoy the movie "Black Panther" with family and friends.

Waterfront Market Unofficial End of Summer Event
10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Giovanni’s Fish Market, 1001 Front Street, Morro Bay
Browse a variety of locally made goods for sale, such as soy candles, crocheted goods, skin care products, incense, drinks and snacks, jewelry, children’s books, and more.

SUNDAY, AUGUST 18

Family Day in the Park/Healthy Kids Day
11 a.m.-4 p.m.
Waller Park, 3107 Orcutt Road, Santa Maria
Enjoy carnival-style games, live music, a Huck Finn fishing derby, car show, live animals from Zoo to You, plus a variety of food, vendors and more.
Free event. (Carnival game tickets are 50 cents each.)
A free shuttle will be available every 15 minutes from the Kmart parking lot starting at 10:30 a.m.
