The Gulch Fire was 100 percent contained Sunday morning, according to CAL FIRE.
CAL FIRE says the Gulch Fire started Saturday afternoon near Dead Mans Gulch Road and Sargents Road, south of San Ardo in Monterey County.
Residents in San Luis Obispo County said they could see and smell smoke from the fire.
About 650 acres burned. No structures were threatened.
