Deputies identify man who reportedly beat grandmother with broom in Cambria

The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office identified the man who reportedly beat his grandmother with a broom in Cambria Tuesday morning.

Tony Cipolla, the public information officer for the sheriff’s office, confirmed James Scott Rimbach, 46, was the person arrested for allegedly attacking his grandmother with a broom

The incident happened on Bridge Street Monday afternoon when deputies responded to a report of a man who harmed his relative.

The situation turned into a standoff when he refused to leave the house. 

Rimbach was arrested for battery causing serious bodily injury, elder abuse and assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm.
