Athletes ran along the Pismo Beach for a good cause on Saturday.
"Stride with the Tide" is a 5K run that raises money to help kids in San Luis Obispo County travel to races.
The funds specifically goes toward scholarships for middle and high school kids in cross country or track and field.
Over the years, people from have started to participate, but an event officials says the race is still as relaxing as it has always been.
"It’s one of those mellow races where you can just have fun, so they do it as whole family ventures," said Colleen Ghiglia, recreation manager.
The race isn’t necessarily relaxing for everyone. It is noted as a big race for participating high schools.
This is one of several races San Luis Distance Club hosts. The run typically races about $5,000.
