AmpSurf comes to Pismo Beach to teach people with disabilities how to surf

Posted

AmpSurf was at Pismo Beach from Aug. 2 to Aug. 5 to teach people with disabilities and their families how to surf and do other outdoor activities.

The non-profit provides Learn to Surf clinics across the county. The events are free, but they ask everyone who participates to help them raise money for their program, although it is not required.

The program started at 8 a.m. each day. First participants received dry land instruction then instructors took them to the ocean to learn how to surf.

The next AmpSurf event is in Long Sands Beach, Maine.
