Local car club raises thousands of dollars for the Special Olympics and other non-profits

The Mad Bomberz Car Club in Santa Maria held a car show to raise money for the Special Olympics.  The club gave more than $5,000 to organizers so they could buy uniforms, food and pay for athletes to travel.
This isn’t the first time the car club has stepped up in the community. They’ve raised more than $50,000 over the last ten years for organizations like the Special Olympics and cancer patients.
"We want to give back to the community there’s a lot of people that are ill, a lot of people that are short of money and stuff we try to help everybody out," said Carlos Baray, Mad Bomberz Car Club member.
This year’s Special Olympics will be in September at the Santa Maria Golf Club. It marks the 50th anniversary of the competition.
