Marine layer will cool beaches this weekend, very hot inland

Posted

This weekend a strong ridge of high pressure over southern California will support continued hot conditions for interior areas.

Across the Central Coast, most areas will see little change in temperatures over the next few days. Temperatures will trend only slightly less hot early next week.

As the dangerous heat wave remains inland, precautions should continue to be taken.

Onshore flow with night to morning low clouds will provide some relief from the heat for coastal areas.

Coastal areas remain under a marine inversion this weekend with much cooler temperatures expected there. The marine layer will be up to 1500 feet Saturday morning.  Afternoon seabreezes will keep some stratus near the beaches throughout the day.

The high-pressure system may drift north while weakening, opening the door for potential monsoonal moisture early next week.
