Posted

A Cal Poly student died while surfing in the Bay Area Sunday. According to NBC affiliate KNTV, the student, 20-year-old Malcolm Feix, was a seasonal Half Moon Bay lifeguard. California State Parks says Feix was off-duty on Sunday when he was pulled out of the water by a good friend and lifeguard at Pomponio State Beach in San Mateo County. It’s unknown if he was alive at that time, and the cause of death has not been determined. This was Feix’s fifth summer as a seasonal lifeguard. According to his Facebook page, he started at Cal Poly in 2016 and had been studying electrical engineering during the school year. This story will be updated.
