UPDATE (8:52 a.m.) – CAL FIRE SLO reports crews are gaining containment of the fire and air and other resources are being released. Firefighters from Santa Barbara County Fire and Santa Maria Fire were assisting in the firefight.
#CougarIC (update) An aggressive initial attack by first in engines has allowed the IC to release the air tankers and cancel the majority of the response. Good progress continues to be made in containing the fire.

UPDATE (8:30 a.m.) – Firefighters report the fire as of 8:30 a.m. had grown slightly to one acre. Crews are still responding but firefighters say there is no direct threat to nearby structures.
UPDATE (8:21 a.m.) – CAL FIRE SLO reported that planes were making drops on the fire, which was estimated to be about 1/2 an acre in size with a slow rate of spread.
Three structures are reportedly nearby.
Firefighters were responding Monday morning to reports of a fire in eastern San Luis Obispo County.
It reportedly broke out at about 7:45 a.m. on the 8200 block of O’Leary Canyon Way.
Multiple resources were being dispatched to the scene.
CAL FIRE SLO says the area off Suey Creek Road and Highway 166 is remote and difficult to access.
