Mazda recalls 270,000 vehicles for ‘potentially dangerous’ Takata airbags

Mazda recalled 270,000 vehicles Friday for their Takata airbags that could pose a threat to drivers. 

Mazda says the airbags have a "potentially dangerous chemicals" used to inflate the airbags and can deteriorate in some conditions, causing them to deploy with excessive force. 

The recall involves passenger-side airbags on certain Mazda 6 models from 2003 to 2008, Mazda-Speed 6 models from 2006 to 2007, and 2004 MPV vehicles nationwide. 

At least 22 deaths and more than 180 injuries have been linked to the defective airbags. Read more about the recall here
