Two men are behind bars, accused of being involved in an armed robbery at a Nipomo home over the weekend.
The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to the 1800 block of Louise Lane at about 10:30 p.m. Sunday after receiving a call from someone there saying they had just been robbed at knifepoint.
The victim was reportedly able to provide a description of the suspects and their vehicle to authorities and a vehicle matching that description was spotted in the area of Riverside Road and Division Street about 10 minutes later, officials say.
The sheriff’s office says when the men in the vehicle saw deputies, they took off.
The vehicle reportedly became stuck in a field. One of the men was taken into custody right away, according to the sheriff’s office, and the other was found soon after with the help of a sheriff’s K-9 and California Highway Patrol helicopter.
The suspects have been identified as Sergio Arturo Flores, 18, and Wilson Ricardo Cortez, 20, both of Santa Maria.
Jail logs show they remain behind bars at San Luis Obispo County Jail on charges of robbery and obstructing a public officer.
Bail for Flores and Cortez is set at $60,000 each.
Officials say items taken by the suspects during the robbery were recovered.
A booking photo for Flores was not immediately available.
