Mild weather much of this week

Posted

Unlike last week we will not see a run of serious heat inland.  The temps inland will come up this week in response to the jet stream be ing focused into the Pac NW.  This promotes a surface high off the coast which keeps inland temps warm while still encouraging onshore NW winds at the coast.

Night and morning marine clouds at the coast look likely thru mid-week.  NW winds should stay under 15mph thru Wednesday.  This weak to moderate flow means the interior and coastal valleys will clear the clouds but some west-facing beaches may see sluggish clearing.

West facing beaches will see more highs in the low to mid 60s while SW facing beaches should get into the upper 60s and low 70s, coastal valleys will also be in the low to mid 70s.  Interior temperatures will bein the lower 90s into Wednesday.

Thursday a trough digs into the Western U.S., winds crank up and will help mix marine clouds but also the strong winds will pull inland temps into the 80s.  The weekend looks to see a trough off the CA coastline for potential slow clearing of marine clouds again like last weekend.  I am not entirely sold on the weekend pattern quite yet, this part of the forecast could change.
