Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office program helps inmates stay close with families

Posted

In Santa Barbara County, the Sheriff’s Office has started a new program called "Keeping Families Close."

The program provides jail inmates more visitation from their family members.

On the Sheriff’s Office Instagram page, it posted photos stating it wanted to ensure families stay close while their loved ones are incarcerated.

"By making sure families stay close, we help ensure there is a stable family life when returning to the community," the post stated.

Officials say it also helps inmates cope with stress. It also helps families deal with issues during a family member’s absence and allows the deputies to interact with the inmates and their families on a different and positive level.
