The owner of Rosa’s Italian Restaurant in Pismo Beach says he plans to install steel posts along the sidewalk outside his restaurant to help keep his employees and customers safe.
The decision comes after a truck involved in a two-vehicle collision on the street crashed through the building Saturday night. No one was injured, but owner Douglas MacMillian says it was a scary moment for everyone inside.
Now, just a few days later, MacMillian is tasked with rebuilding and dealing with what he says is now $30,000 in damage.
"It was scary. It was a loud noise and it was very scary. When anything like that happens it kind of catches you off guard – except for one of my waitresses who did not drop a thing. She was fantastic," MacMillian told KSBY News.
He says the crash shook the whole restaurant.
Crashes in this area aren’t uncommon.
MacMillian says his restaurant has been hit nine times before, but this is the first time a vehicle crashed through the building.
