Atascadero police arrested a man suspected of robbing a gas station on Thursday.
Officers were called to the Hitching Post Shell station on the 8000 block of Morro Road at about 3:30 p.m. after the clerk reported that a man came into the store, took a bottle of water, stated he had a gun, then fled the store.
Police watched the store’s surveillance video and were able to locate a man matching the description of the robber on Morro Road near Portola Road. The man reportedly ran from officers when they confronted him.
Police say he eventually stopped and assaulted the officers that were following him. Officers reportedly had to use a Taser to subdue him.
The man, identified as Joseph Sage Bramon, 35, of Atascadero, was treated for minor injuries at the hospital. Police said he would be booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail on charges of robbery, assault on an officer, and for a felony warrant.
One officer reportedly sustained minor injuries during the arrest but did not require medical attention.
