Temps set to drop and could be in the 60s inland over the weekend

Posted

Interior heat again hit the mid to upper 90s across the interior valleys both in SLO and SB Counties today but relief is not long off.

A trough is digging into the Pacific NW and already Thursday highs should drop 5-10 degrees with another 5-10 degree drop both Friday and Saturday.  Coastal temps will also fade but not as dramatically.  The reason for this is an upper level low which will cut off from the main branch of the jet stream and simply spin away over CA into early next week.

That low should move off by Tuesday for warming temps early next week to seasonal averages.

Another factor in local weather today is the reduction of coastal winds.  You can see more in the attached video clip from our newscast.
