Gusty winds through the weekend

Posted

A weak trough of low pressure is causing afternoon winds to pick-up in the afternoon and evening hours.

A fire weather watch is in effect for Santa Barbara County’s mountains and south coast through Sunday at morning. The north winds will range anywhere from 20-40 miles per hour with gusts up to 60 mph, which could be more of a factor in the mountains. For the rest of the area, winds in San Luis Obispo County will be around 15-20 mph Friday afternoon with gusts from 35-35 mph.

Daytime highs for the inland valleys are warming up Friday back into the upper 80s and low 90s. Coastal valleys will range from the mid-70s to mid-80s, while the beaches will be in the mid to upper 60s.

Overnight marine layer and fog will burn off by the late morning which will result in mostly clear skies throughout Friday and the weekend.
