Strawberry festival attracts thousands to Arroyo Grande

Posted

To celebrate peak strawberry season, the 35th Annual Strawberry Festival kicked off in Arroyo Grande on Saturday.

The event serves as a primary fundraiser for the Arroyo Grande Village Improvement Association, serving up an abundance of strawberry treats.

Thousands of visitors enjoyed music, dancers, street performers and an interactive and educational dinosaur show.

"Sometimes we have jazz bands, sometimes we have blues bands, it all changes, evolves. We want it to be as professional as possible, as we can possibly make it for a free festival, and we also want it to change year to year so people want to come back year to year," said Curtis Reinhardt, the festival’s entertainment coordinator.

Arroyo Grande businesses benefit from the increase in visitors. "It brings a lot of people into town and yeah, we stay really busy making treats," said Jeremy Davenport, a local business owner.

If you missed the festival on Saturday, you can still make it on Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
