Gas station car wash catches fire in Goleta

Posted

A gas station in Goleta is closed after part of the business went up in flames Friday evening.

The fire started around 5:30 p.m. in an office attached to the car wash portion of the Chevron station at 47 N. Fairview Ave., just off the Fairview off-ramp from Highway 101.

Santa Barbara County Fire Captain Dave Zaniboni says crews arrived to find the car wash area on fire. It also houses the office area for both the car wash and gas station.

The fire spread from the office to the attic, causing significant damage to the office and the car wash.

The business is now closed. Building inspectors will work to determine whether the business will be able to reopen, Captain Zaniboni said.

Fire investigators were working to figure out how the fire started.
