ORIGINAL STORY – Many people in northern San Luis Obispo County found it difficult to do business on Wednesday due to a widespread cable internet outage.

According to city officials in Atascadero, a semi-truck snagged a low-hanging Charter fiber optic cable on Monterey Road just north of Graves Creek Road late Wednesday morning. The accident pulled a telephone pole and cable and phone lines down onto the roadway. It knocked out Charter service for many people in the North County area.

Monterey Road was closed at Graves Creek Road and crews were expected to remain at the scene working to repair the line until at least the early evening.
