Cal Poly to Host Public Forum on Marijuana

Posted

Cal Poly will host a public forum Thursday on marijuana, in an effort to keep students and the community up-to-date after it was recently legalized.

Cal Poly’s Campus Health and Wellbeing department and San Luis Obispo County Behavioral Health will be co-hosting the public forum, specifically effects of and policies of marijuana.

Organizers say it will be an educational forum covering accurate and evidence based research about the mental, physical and social effects of marijuana.

There will be a student representative and six professionals from various sectors of the community, including University Police Department, California Highway Patrol, San Luis Obispo County Behavioral Health, Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center, and Cal Poly Student Club NORML.

In addition, the panel will also educate about local, state and federal policies on marijuana sales, growth and usage.

The forum will take place Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Spanos Theatre.

Admission is free on a first-come basis. Refreshments will be provided!
