New shops and developments are in the works for Lompoc.
The announcements were made during the State of the City presentation on Thursday.
With Planet Fitness and Blaze Pizza set to open soon, City officials said Ulta Beauty recently submitted plans to open a store at the former Staples location along H Street.
The project will be going before the planning commission soon.
As far as developments, a mixed-use project is proposed for the heart of Old Town, with the first floor of the former Lompoc Record building proposed as commercial use and the second and third floors as residential units.
On the other side of town, construction on 44 new homes just north of Purisima Highlands is set to begin before the end of the year.
In regards to marijuana, the City said six commercial cannabis use applications have been received so far and more are expected.
