Minor injuries were reported in a four-vehicle crash on southbound Highway 101 through Shell Beach Tuesday morning.
The California Highway Patrol reports it happened at about 8:30 a.m. south of Spyglass Drive, the area where traffic was beginning to slow due to a lane closure caused by a tanker truck that caught on fire overnight.
Preliminary reports show the driver of a car crashed into the back of a Grover Beach police car at an "aggressive speed," according to CHP. The impact pushed the vehicles into two other cars and a traffic sign.
CHP reports at least one person was taken to the hospital. The Grover Beach PD officer involved in the crash was reportedly seen walking around after the collision.
Traffic was said to still be backed up through the area as of 9:45 a.m., although CHP was reporting the tanker truck, which initially caused the slowing of traffic, had been towed.
