San Luis Obispo County says that their 43-year-old animal shelter has deteriorated beyond repair--and now a replacement for the facility will cost less than previously thought.
The estimated total of the project is over $20 million, most of which will be payed for by County bonds; but due to the county's good credit, the interest rate at which they have to pay back the bonds will be 2.51-percent.
That will save the County about $44,000 in annual payments.
"The County's high credit rating benefits all residents in SLO County," said San Luis Obispo County in a press release.
